During the Covid-19 pandemic, when horror scenarios predicted the end of the offices era, Amot Investments made a different decision – to invest in Haverd (The Rose) Building in Givataim, the mythological building of the Pelephone corporation.
During that period, the world began formulizing the New Carbon new environmental standard – a strict standard for the quantity of the contaminating substances materials in proportion to their impact on global warming over a century. The standard is almost impossible to implement, as it requires working with an existing structural frame and use of recycled building materials.
Havered Building was stripped to its structural frame and rebuilt. One of only eight buildings in the work that reached zero rating emerged from this meticulous process. The building in face generated the energy required in its public spaces. An extensive system of solar panels, that look like glass coating on the building’s facades, provides electricity to the building. The HVAC systems are gas-based, and the public spaces are separated from the commercial areas. This turns the building into an independent energetic ecosystem, that relies on its self-generating power.
Compliance with the LEED Platinum international standard not only set a new bar to the building itself, but also drove the entire Israeli standards system towards more environmentally strict standards. In fact, beyond architecture and engineering, the outcomes are felt on a daily basis: less energy is wasted, the tenants bear lower costs, and the work environment enables employees to focus on what really matters.
